Lisbon Highlights

Four relaxed hours through Lisbon's best-loved places, from a panoramic first look to a warm pastel de Belém.

  • About 4 hours
  • Up to 4 people
  • Private
  • €40 per hour, per vehicle + VAT

Lisbon is a city of hills, light and short distances that never feel short. On this private four-hour tour we begin with a panoramic view over the downtown, then descend into the historic heart of the city: the cathedral, São Jorge Castle and the lanes of Alfama.

Then we head west to Belém, where you will taste the original pastel de Belém and see the Jerónimos Monastery and Belém Tower.

You travel in a silent electric Tesla with a driver who is also your guide, and who tells you the stories behind the places as you go. There is room for up to four people, and no strangers in your group.

The route

  1. Parque Eduardo VII, with its clipped hedge patterns leading down towards the city and the river

    Stop 1

    Parque Eduardo VII

We begin at the largest park in the centre of Lisbon, for a first panoramic look over the city and down to the river.

  2. A busy street in Lisbon leading up to the twin towers of the Cathedral (Sé)

    Stop 2

    Lisbon Cathedral (Sé)

Begun in the second half of the 12th century, after the city was taken from the Moors by Afonso Henriques, the Sé has been a National Monument since 1910.

  3. The rooftops of Alfama and the white dome of the National Pantheon, seen from Miradouro de Santa Luzia

    Stop 3

    Alfama

The oldest and most typical neighbourhood in the city, more like a village than a district. Known for its restaurants and fado houses, and for the Santos Populares festivities around Saint Anthony's night, on 12–13 June.

  4. São Jorge Castle on its wooded hilltop above the red roofs of downtown Lisbon

    Stop 4

    São Jorge Castle

From its hilltop you get one of the best views over the city and the Tagus estuary. The castle's first walls date back to the 2nd century BC.

The castle entrance ticket is paid separately and is not included in the tour price.

  5. Two pastéis de Belém with coffee, in front of traditional blue and white azulejo tiles

    Stop 5

    Pastéis de Belém

Time for the real thing. The pastel de Belém is made to its original recipe only at the Fábrica dos Pastéis de Belém, and was named one of the 7 Wonders of Gastronomy in Portugal in 2011.

  6. The carved limestone church and bell tower of the Jerónimos Monastery in Belém

    Stop 6

    Jerónimos Monastery

Built from the end of the 15th century under King Manuel I, the monastery is the high point of Manueline architecture.
