Fátima, Nazaré and Óbidos

A full day north of Lisbon through three very different places, a sanctuary, a fishing town by the big waves, and a medieval walled village.

Some of Portugal’s most interesting places are an easy drive from Lisbon, and here faith, culture, nature and heritage meet in very different ways.

On this private day tour of about nine hours we visit Fátima, Nazaré and Óbidos. You leave the city in a quiet electric car with a driver and guide, set your own pace in each place, and are back in Lisbon by the end of the day.

The route

    Stop 1

    Fátima

    One of the most significant pilgrimage sites in the world. Since the reported apparitions of the Virgin Mary to three shepherd children in 1917, millions have come here, for faith or for the quiet.

    Stop 2

    Nazaré

    A seaside town on Portugal's Atlantic coast, famous for the towering waves at Praia do Norte that attract big-wave surfers from around the world. Its old streets, whitewashed houses and fishermen's market tell the other side of the story.

    Óbidos

    A medieval town inside ancient walls, with cobbled streets, whitewashed houses with colourful trim and a hilltop castle. Known for its Medieval Festival and its arts and crafts.
